Long live the necklace. Current trends have been discouraging decorating a neckline, and instead favoring a more minimalist look. The thing is, we’ve done minimalism. The art world is leaning toward bigger and bolder, and a flashy neckline is just too good to bow down to a trend. We’ve already talked about how the no-necklace trend is a flash in the pan, and we love to see the brave necklace warriors out there rocking gorgeous neckline designs against the rest of the pack. The red carpet has seen some boring, bare necklines this year, but the no-necklace trend isn’t getting to the hottest and most fashionable among our favorite celebrities. It’s refreshing to see independent celebrities rebel against the norm and refuse to bend to the no-necklace trend. From Zendaya to Florence Pugh, luxury and diamond necklaces are still going strong and adding the perfect cherry on top of a gorgeous ensemble.
Now if you’re gonna go against the current, you’ve gotta make sure you do it right. There are a few design elements that keep popping up in the red carpet looks that are brave enough to don a bold and daring necklace in the midst of a necklace drought. Multicolor gemstone necklaces are making an appearance in red carpet events, adding a touch of color and shine to the evening. We’ve seen a love of color in the art world and the fashion world as maximalism has been on the rise, and many designers are going all-out with color in their visions. There have also been a lot of fashion-forward red carpet celebrities that have been rocking the asymmetrical diamond neckpiece - playing with shape and geometry to make a stunning fashion statement. We’ve also seen a lovely response to the minimalist necklines in the form of layered diamond necklaces and diamonds by the yard, which can bring a carefree yet luxurious look to an ensemble.
Give Us Gemstones
Zendaya is known for making waves in the industry and on the red carpet. It didn’t take long for her to make herself a household name in style and fashion and looks like the one she wore to the 2023 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards are excellent examples of why. She paired a bold diamond necklace that dangled stunning emerald-cut gemstones with her baby pink dress, looking absolutely royal. For a taste-the-rainbow multicolor look, the Flower Sapphire and Diamond Station Necklace by John Apel flaunts gorgeous gemstones but keeps up a chill flower child vibe. For fans of the open-face gemstones in Zendaya’s iconic look, the Aquamarine Mixed Shape Carly Fringe Necklace by Lauren K gives off an alluring pale blue that is captivating in the light.
Asymmetry Chemistry
When in doubt, go asymmetrical. Using asymmetry in an ensemble of the best ways to take a distinguished, elegant white diamond look and turn it fun and playful. Just because we’re dressed to the nines doesn’t mean we have to go bland. Both Angela Basset at the 2023 Oscars and Jenna Ortega at the 2023 Golden Globe awards were seen rocking stunning interpretations on a bold cross-cross necklace aesthetic. Up the ante with the cascading shapes and turn to the White Gold and Diamond necklace from Norman Silverman. This creative take on a classic design is the perfect way to add a little personality to any upscale event.
